The international research conference “Archaeology of Yatvings in the wider perspective” was held 14–15 April 2016 in the State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw to recapitulate the outcomes of interdisciplinary studies completed within the “Yatving Archaeology” project. The opening address was given by dr Wojciech Brzeziński, Director of the State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw. Polish participants of the grant reported on the progress of archaeological, geophysical, geomorphological and palynological work at Szurpiły and Skomack Wielki. The Norwegian partners reviewed the status of hillforts research in Norway and shared their experience on the use of non-invasive methods in archaeological work. A separate presentation outlined Norwegian achievements in the field of cultural heritage communication and dissemination in the region of Vest-Agder and at the Midgard Historical Centre in Borre. Guest speakers from archaeological centres in Germany, Lithuania and Poland reported on the results of their work on early medieval cultural landscapes.
